David Theis has studied Kajukembo under Mr. Gerald Chavez, begining
in 1981 .
David Theis was Mr. Chavez' 5th student to be promoted to black
belt, receiving his first degree in 1991.

David Theis:

Born on Feb. 20 1968 in Los Angeles, California
David started Martial Arts training in 1982 in Kajukenbo with
Mr. Gerald Chavez in Albuquerque New Mexico.
David has additional training in Tum Pa, Tai Chi and Pau Qua with Si Gung Jon Loren, head of the Tum Pai branch of Kajukenbo and the founder and head of the Northern Tum Pai Association.
David has also studied Derobio Escrima from Maestro Dan Medina durring seminars and workshops, has also take seminars and workshops with othe notable martial artists including: Mr. Al Decascos, Mr Tony Ramos, Mr Eric Lee and Olohe Solomon Kaihewalu.
David is a member of the American Kajukembo Association, the Northern Tum Pai Association, and Thunderbird Kajukembo Association, of which he is the treasurer for the year 2006 and has served as vice president in 2002 and president in 2004.
David is an instructor at Life Dance Martial Arts Studio where he teaches Wednesday night Kajukembo classes for Si Gung Gerald Chavez. David also has a Tai Chi practice that meets at a local park on Sunday mornings.
David is married to Mrs. Juliana Chavez. The two were married
in August of 2005. David is also a volunteer at the non profit
organization EPC, a community center focusing on substance-dependent
and homeless as well as the promotion of mental and physical
health through exercise, and the promotion of energy consciousness
and volunteerism.
